If you lure them, they will come…

By Amr, Marketing Manager at Homestead

Here’s Amr from our marketing group to tell you about his favorite web marketing tool – Rochelle

You’ve built a great website and registered the perfect domain. You’ve filled your online store with hot products and services, so now you can just sit back and wait for the business to roll in.

Too bad it doesn’t work that way. Setting yourself up online is only part of the process; you also have to make sure people find your perfect site when they go shopping on the Internet.

That’s why a key part of any serious web marketing strategy should be getting the search engines to work for you. One of the most effective ways to do that is by placing ads on search results pages, ads triggered by words the searcher used. When the ads are clicked, the searcher is taken directly to your site. We have a service called Homestead SearchLight™ that does just that.

It’s an efficient way to deliver targeted buyers directly to your website or online storefront. We pick “keywords” that best describe your business or products, then use them to create small ads that will be featured on major search engines, including Google™ and Yahoo®. Then, whenever a customer uses those keywords to search for something they need, your ad can appear on the results page.

How often those ads appear depend on the popularity of the keywords used – whether other businesses are using them as well. The beauty is that it doesn’t matter: you only pay for the visitors who actually click on your ad and are taken to your site.

Monthly reporting is included that can be used to optimize the results you get:

The service does the work for you, and you get the visitors your site needs.

You have a lot of competition out there vying for the same potential customers, so getting the search engines to work for you is pretty important. When a customer searches for a solution to their needs, better make sure that solution is you!

Hi,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,just wanted to know if Searchlight can be geo targeted,,,to specific states,,,,,,,zip codes,,,etc,,,,,,,,,thanks,,,,,,,,Hal

  2. Amr, Marketing Manager at Homestead Says:

Yes, Hal, absolutely, you can specify the geographic area you want to serve, and SearchLight will tailor your ads so they’ll appear in the right place to the right people. That way you only pitch to the people you want. Hope that helps!

    Thanks again Rochelle

Is Homestead Search Light actually Google Adsense? I use them on my hobbyist cooking site http://www.lovethatkimchi.com

I don’t buy the words but simply use the advertising on my site for a pay per click revenue.

Hi Randy, thanks for the question. No, Homestead SearchLight doesn’t work that way. Google Adsense puts ads for other businesses on your site, so if visitors to your site click on them, you get revenue from Google. Sounds like that’s what you’re using. SearchLight, on the other hand, places your ads on, and this is important, search engine results pages. And not just Google; SearchLight places your ads on over 30 other search engines as well. That way, people searching for products and services in your market niche will see your ads as part of their search process, and be able to click on them to find you. It’s an efficient way for your business to reach new people. Hope that helps!

I’ve been a Homestead customer for 6 years but sadly, I’m getting ready to switch to SBI, even though Homestead has the very best sitebuilder. Why? Because Homestead focuses on selling us Searchlight instead of teaching us how to optimize our pages for organic traffic and making it easy for us to submit our sites to the search engines like you did before selling the Searchlight product. Sorry :(

This is a great way to get traffic coming to your website. I actually built an email/newsletter list of over four hundred subscribers by running paid advertisements.

Once you lure them in it’s good to have a way of keeping your catch. The Homestead Newsletter feature is a great tool to add to your landing page that the ads are linked to.
