We’ve been working hard behind the scenes on some exciting products to help our members get more visitors to their websites. Here’s Amr & Lindsay to tell you about one of the latest- Rochelle
A while ago we released an online directory that is exclusively open to Homestead and Intuit member sites. Only those members can place a listing in it, but it’s open for browsing to anyone looking for products and services. To give you an idea what a listing looks like, here’s an example:
Tens of thousands of people visit intuit.com, homestead.com, and other related sites daily, and that number continues to grow. And they all have easy access to the Intuit Business Directory, and therefore your company profile and your website. And because listings in the Intuit Business Directory are limited exclusively to Homestead and Intuit members, you’ll stand out as one of a select number of businesses within a specific category. In other words, you won’t be drowning in a sea of your competitors.
We’re also working on increasing traffic to member sites listed in our directory by promoting it to the major search engines. When someone is looking for a travel website, we want one of the first options they see to be the Intuit Travel and Transportation Directory (one of the major categories within our directory). If you’re listed there, your site could get some very valuable exposure.
Our goal is to help you gain a stronger presence online, and to create an entry point for you into the world of search engines. We know a lot of members are busy running their businesses, so we wanted to make it easy to get their sites some immediate exposure. Getting listed is easy – just fill out some simple information and your listing will be online within days.
Check out the directory yourself at business.intuit.com. For more detailed information about it, just visit intuit.com and click on the Promote Your Business tab at the top of the page; the directory is part of the “Intuit WebListings” group of tools you can use to market your business. You can also find information on the directory at homestead.com by clicking on the Get Traffic tab at the top of the page.

In regard to Homestead Directory I have this input: Have a team of experts, have them select some sites ( 3 or 4 or 1/2 dozen at a time ) and promote them like “Web Sites Of the Month). This will pinpoint visitor’s interest to focus on what’s it all about in these websites. It will also be a tremenous morale booster for the websites owners.

We are just getting ready to join Homestead and create a web site to help sell our custom Coin Rings. I have been making a study of various web building/hosting sites and have decided homestead would fit our needs the best. However, although I keep reading about how there are tens of thousands of people hitting the Homestead site every day and can find your website listing in the Homestead Directory, it seems like the button for the Directory is small, obscured and hard to locate. In my opinion the Homestead Directory button should stand out where people have no problem finding it. I think that this should be top priority and would bennifit all the members listed in the Directory. Other than that I am impressed with what Homestead has to offer.
